Plug-in solar, checked properly before anything is fitted

Plug-in solar kits look simple, and the product part often is. What decides whether one suits your home is everything around it: where the panels can sit, how the power gets to your electrics, and whether the existing installation is in a fit state to accept it.

Bradley starts with a readiness check. He looks at the site and the connection, tells you plainly whether it makes sense, and only then talks about fitting. If it does not suit your property, you will hear that too.

Solar options for your property

Which one fits depends on your property and what you want from it. Most conversations start with the first.

  • Readiness checks

A look at the proposed panel position, the route to your electrics, the state of the existing installation and how a kit would connect. You get a clear view on whether it is sensible to go ahead and what, if anything, needs sorting first.

  • Premium installations

Panels mounted properly on a pergola, shed or fence rather than propped against a wall. Cable routes, fixings and connection are planned so the finished result is tidy and safe to live with.

  • Smaller battery installs

Smaller hardwired battery installations, where the property and equipment suit them. The connection, protection and installation requirements are assessed before work is agreed.

  • Kit choice

EcoFlow and Anker kits are the main options. Lionshee systems are available as panel-only. Bradley will explain which makes sense for your site rather than pushing one brand.

Process

How a plug-in solar job runs

  1. Tell Bradley what you have in mind

Send photos of the garden, roof, shed or pergola, the consumer unit and where you would like the panels. Mention any kit you have already bought.

  2. Readiness check

Site suitability and the connection are assessed. No kit should be assumed to be safe to plug into any socket; each setup is judged on the property in front of him.

  3. Free quote

Discuss the options, what each involves and the cost, including any remedial work needed on the existing installation.

  4. Installation and handover

Fixings, cabling and connection are completed, then explained to you so you know how it is arranged.

Honest pricing

Pricing

No fixed price is published for solar because the cost depends on the site and the kit. Product prices are set by the manufacturers and retailers.

Check the connection before committing to a kit

Suitability, connection method and any network-operator requirements depend on the property and equipment. Energy output and savings also vary with position, shading and how you use power; there is no one-size-fits-all promise.

Questions

Things people ask first

Covering Nuneaton, Tamworth, Hinckley and nearby.

Can I just plug a solar kit into any socket?

Not as a blanket rule. Whether and how a given kit should connect depends on the product, the circuit and the state of the installation. That is exactly what a readiness check looks at.

I already bought a kit. Can you look at it?

Yes. Send the make and model with photos of where it would go and your consumer unit, and Bradley will tell you what he would need to check.

Which brands do you work with?

EcoFlow and Anker kits mainly, plus panel-only Lionshee systems.

Can panels go on a shed, fence or pergola?

Often, yes, and premium mounted installations on these are a main part of the work. Structure strength, shading and the cable route all matter, so it is checked first.

Will it save me money?

No figure is promised here. Output depends on position, shading, season and how you use power. Bradley will talk through realistic expectations for your site.

Do you fit batteries?

Smaller hardwired battery installations, yes. Larger systems are outside what is listed here, so ask and he will say honestly.
